Paulo Coelho’s “The Alchemist” is one of my favorite books. It’s about a shepherd boy named Santiago whose recurring dream about a hidden treasure leads him on the adventure of a lifetime. Along the way, he meets many people and learns many lessons about life and about himself. I learned those lessons as well and have been able to apply them throughout my life experiences. Here are some of my favorite quotes and lessons:
- “To realize one’s destiny is a person’s only real obligation. All things are one. And when you wan something, all the universe conspires in helping you achieve it.”
- “He had to choose between something he had become accustomed to and something he wanted to have.”
- “God has prepared a path for everyone to follow. You just have to read the omens that he left for you.”
- “The secret of happiness is to see all the marvels of the world….”
- “Intuition is really a sudden immersion of the soul into the universal current of life, where the histories of all people are connected and we are able to know everything, because it’s all written there.”
- “We are afraid of losing what we have, whether it’s our life or our possessions and property. But this fear evaporates when we understand that out life stories and the history of world were written by the same hand.”
These lessons do not do justice to the full context of the book. “The Alchemist” is insightful, relevant and life changing. If you haven’t read it yet, please check it out 🙂
